gaganalysis:

Some instances of surrealist artist Salvador Dali’s influence on Lady Gaga’s fashion and performance art.

A common theme in Dali’s work is the balance (or lack of) between fantasy and reality - a theme of Gaga’s, too. The examples above compare some literal interpretations, but many pieces by Dali serve in a more abstract way.

Take the painting below, Burning Giraffes and Telephones. Many elements of this piece remind us of Gaga - the single eye, telephones, and camera, to name a few.

So my professor was asking questions.
Professor: Who plans on getting married within the next 5-10 years?
Like 3 people: *raises hand*
Professor: Who plans on never getting married?
Me: *raises hand*
Professor: *points me out* why?
Me: It's illegal.
Professor: touche.

“A feminist in my opinion is somebody that regards that women have a strong intelligence and wisdom. That we are just as great as men — and some of us can be even better. I want to fight for the female performer, the female artist, the female musician.” - Lady Gaga
